Streaming Media is the term given to a continuous supply
of audio or video data.
Streaming media files over the internet has the distinct
advantage that unlike more traditional media files, users
can start viewing them often almost instantly without having
to download the full file.
The player software on the user's computer decodes the compressed
stream as it arrives through the user's internet connection.
There are two types of streaming media:
LIVE STREAMING
When an event is happening in real time (similar to watching
the news on TV)
ON DEMAND STREAMING
When an event has been pre-recorded (similar to watching a
video or DVD)
